Excellant Movie From Start To Finnish 5 out of 5 stars.

War is one heck of an action movie from start to finnish. Jason and Lee back again since The One, and they are both top notch actors. I have predicted for a long time Jason would make one of the best James Bonds if that could ever happen for him.

Bridget's review 5 out of 5 stars.

I'm a huge fan of action movies. I have yet to see a movie with Jet Li or Jason Statham that I didn't like. This was a "keep you on the seat of your pants" movie that kept me entertained until it was over. I can't believe how much of a difference Blu-ray can make!

War 4 out of 5 stars.

"War" is a serious, sophisticated, powerful action-thriller with a decent plot and good performances, especially by Jet Li. There is great action and fighting in this movie, there is one fight scene where it becomes so furious, even in the beginning, that it's impossible to follow what is happening to whom whereby the story gets jumbled and collapses partially - becoming fighting for fighting sake whereas a great director would have been able to save the plot outline even in this complicated and physically well-executed stretch of the movie. Jason Statham's seems to have martial arts skills above his job classification which make it sometimes a bit incredible, but still enjoyable. By the time the twist comes along, it's actually quite a nice one, but not executed with the greatest of credibility. This is overall a good, compelling, and rather complicatedly sublime movie. This movie is rich with action.

BORING!!! 1 out of 5 stars.
1 of 2 people found this review helpful.

I really enjoyed the first 3 Lethal Weapon movies, but this one is a snoozer. Chris Rock is funny as a comedian, but as an actor he's in need of some serious help. The whole movie was so overblown that it's just ridiculous!

Don't waste your money. If you really must see it borrow it. It's not even worth the time to watch really, much less the cost to rent. Even Mel Gibson can't save this one from the trash heap.

LETHAL WEAPON 4 (Riggs getting older and slower) 5 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

While i liked the film overall,i was disappointed by the fact that in this last installment,it was obviously the intent of the 'creators' of his character to present him as being older and slower. Was this a method of ending the trilogy in a manner that fans would accept or feel comfortable with? i'm not sure, but i know i felt a bit let down by watching my favorite action hero actually confess within the movie that he was getting slower and getting too old for this s***!
what disturbed me even more was that he was getting his butt kicked at every turn and in a couple battles he got his bottom saved by someone else.apart from the things i just mentioned, however,i liked the film. i like the martin riggs character. i just wish that he would have been more of the tough, fast fighting "nobody can touch me" that he was in the first 3.

This movie was a huge disapointment! The story could have been really good but unfortunately it was wasted! The acting was terrible and so was the dialog.

Not even fun in a campy way. 1 out of 5 stars.

It really seems like the people responsible for this movie didn't bother to see the first two movies first. Honestly, the way past events are referenced in the movie is exactly like the writer skimmed the back of the dvd case to just get the gist of the previous stories and used their imagination to fill in the blanks. Brendan Frasier seems obviously unimpressed with everything throughout the movie. It's always a bummer in a movie series when the usual actor for a reoccurring character has to replaced. Rachel Weisz doesn't return as Evie this time, and the replacement brings none of the humor, intelligence or vulnerability to the role. John Hannah does return but bad writing and the lack of Rachel Weisz to play off of make him less likable this time. The chemistry between Rick and Evie is broken in the same way. The estrangement between Alex and his parents, as well as portrayal of Rick and Evie as "old hands at this sort of thing" gives it kind of a feeling of ripping off Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.

Excllent movie going experience take for what it is 4 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

A lot of the critics have been complaining about Cradle 2 The Grave they even as far to say it's trash. The main thing the critics are all complaining about is the acting but who is acutally going to this movie for the acting you're going for the action. Jet Li, Anthony Anderson, DMX and director Andrzej Bartkowiak all worked together on Romeo Must Die while DMX,Drag-On Anthony Anderson , Tom Arnold and director Andrzej Bartkowiak all worked on Exit Wounds together.Andrzej Bartkowiak brings together his regulars and adds Gabirelle Union, Kelly Hu and Mark Dacoassas to the mix. The film has cool action sequences, a hot soundtrack and limtied wire work which is common for these types of films.

Not Your Normal Martial Arts Fare 3 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

Up to this film, I found most of these Hong Kong martial-arts films to be packed with action and most feature either a little humor (Jackie Chan) or beautiful scenery ("Hero," etc.) or wild special effects ("Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" and more).....but this one features a mean edge.

I guess I'm not used to seeing Asian films with a lot of profanity (mainly f-words) or bloody scenes almost to the point of being gross, which one scene was in here. Yet: don't misunderstand: I liked this movie.

The hero is likable guy played by Jet Li. Despite his martial arts penchant for violence, he has a soft, boyish look to him and doesn't seem to fit the type. He's always the gentleman in here, with no profanity either. The villains, led by Tchecky Karyo, are brutal. Bridget Fonda, playing a hooker, at least wasn't some "Pretty Woman" type figure. She was rough, too, but at least realistic and I give her credit for not worrying about how she looked in here, beauty-wise.

Editorial Review:

Martial arts genius Jet Li explodes onto the screen with an intensity not seen since Bruce Lee. "Kiss of the Dragon" is not merely a thriller but a shocker. (San Francisco Chronicle) China's top secret agent visits Paris on a pleasure trip only to encounter government espionage at the highest level. "Li's action sequences are like an oil fire, spilling from one room into the next and lighing up in the interiors with heat and wreakage"! (The New York Times)

Which to buy? New Legend of Shaolin vs Legend of the Red Dragon 4 out of 5 stars.
2 of 3 people found this review helpful.

The customer review currently featured first here urges us to buy the New Legend of Shaolin DVD, but many will actually prefer the Legend of the Red Dragon DVD. (For those not aware, these are different releases of the same movie, and the reviews are mixed together here. The Shaolin release is from Tai Seng, a company with a mixed reputation for importing Hong Kong movies; the Red Dragon release is from Sony/Columbia Tristar. What appears to be essentially the same Tai Seng DVD is also here.)

There are two main differences between the two versions.

1. The Red Dragon version is edited so that it's 12 minutes shorter than the Tai Seng Shaolin version. I don't think that necessarily makes it worse. This isn't Citizen Kane, or Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon. After the misleadingly grave beginning, this is mainly a low-budget, wacky martial-arts comedy, with over-the-top fights and characters, humorous throughout. Judging from comparisons at Hong Kong movie websites, the cuts don't change anything of great importance.

And the 95-minute Tai Seng Shaolin release isn't really the fullest version anyway. Amazon also lists a 100-minute version. I'd happily watch a longer version, but I didn't feel any great gaps that interfered with anything all that important in Legend of the Red Dragon, or find myself wishing it was longer.

2. The other main difference is that Red Dragon offers the English dub only, while Shaolin offers Chinese with optional English subtitles only, with no option for an English dub.

As it happens, the English dubbing on the Red Dragon version is hilarious; it's hard to imagine that the original Chinese is any funnier, especially to those who don't speak Cantonese, or that the subtitles bring out some subtle humor missed in the dub.

So, if you're taking this movie the way it appears to be intended, that is, not so seriously, and you don't speak Chinese, you might prefer the Red Dragon version with the English dubbing. It's currently very cheap used.

If you're not familiar with Jet Li, he's a great martial artist with a long career in Hong Kong and some American movies, capped by the recent Fearless (which is the kind of film that's better in its longer version). If you like Jackie Chan's cheaper outings, or want to see some impressively choreographed martial arts action in a mainly comedic setting, try out whichever version of this movie and you'll have a good time.

Both versions are in non-anamorphic widescreen. The image quality is good.

("Red Dragon" is a key place name in the move, by the way, so perhaps not entirely gratuitously chosen for the title. Not that it really matters. A final note: don't confuse this with the movie called simply Red Dragon--that's a completely different animal, and not half as much fun, in my view.)

INTERESTING CONCEPT WITH DABBLES OF LAMENESS 3 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

Interesting concept regarding a man who was brought up as though he was a cage fighting dog. He lived in a large metal cage that had all the amendities of prison plus a children's ABC picture book. Later, we learn that his mother who was murdered by thugs (you'll have to watch it to find out which thugs), was also a brilliant pianist, which was why he had a heightened interest in pianos. So when, by chance, during a thug operation, he met a blind man who was piano tuner, tuning some pianos in the same warehouse the operation took place, a seed of decention was formed. Later, he ran off and was taken in by the blind man and his daughter where he was treated with love and humanity.

However, certain glaring problems arose. Being raised in that cage from boyhood, who taught him to fight? I suppose he can't read and write since all he had was the ABC book. And I can't see how someone who has grown up with such violence could suddenly develop a conscience. Or if one had a conscience, would not have shown signs of resistance in some passive aggressive way against their captors. When he was taken in by the family, it was like he returned to where he left off as a boy.

I think this movie was not meant to be analyzed. It was entertaining. The collar thing was interesting. Of course, the fight scene was fun. The family was enduring. A good movie to watch when you want to unwind.

Editorial Review:

Martial arts superstar Jet Li delivers a break-out performance in the gripping, action-packed story about a man raised from childhood by a ruthless crime boss (Academy Award nominee Bob Hoskins) and becomes a violent killing machine. When a blind piano tuner (Academy Award winner Morgan Freeman) takes him in, Danny (Li) tries to start a new life, but his brutal past follows him, forcing him to fight back. Featuring breath-taking fight choreography by Yuen Woo Ping (The Matrix and Kill Bill: Vols. 1 & 2).

i am a huge jet li fan and of course HAD to have this movie. and i did really like it. i think i would have liked it more had it not beed overdubbed in english and had no chinese language option. something for the studio to think about when they undoubtedly end up rereleasing it.

This is what it is, people - action and comedy 4 out of 5 stars.

All right, so this movie isn't the best work Jet Li has done. It's not really the point. This is fun, mindless action and I really enjoyed it. True, the dubs on the English version are hokey. And that mask was a bit much, LOL - the point is people need to stop acting like every movie has to be Oscar quality and just grab some popcorn and have some fun once in a while.
