A Waste Of 99 Minutes Of Life. 1 out of 5 stars.
2 of 12 people found this review helpful.

Scenario and showmanship are good and entertaining, if you can overlook that people walk on water, walls, and fly around. The storyline is schizophrenic and nonsensical. I got frustrated waiting for an end that took too long to come.
SPOILER ALERT:
No sequel here, everybody dies. Some several times.

Niiiiiice kung-fu flick 4 out of 5 stars.

Great action throughout the movie, and an even better story. Jet gives one of his better performances in this one. The visuals are amazing and the fighting is in incredible. Great movie

Disappointed...High production values. The idea of Jackie Chan and Jet Li sounded amazing but the main character is lame and the fight scenes are wire fighting which I don't particularly like. The story is awful but Bluray makes it viewable.

The Karate Kid Meets Jackie Chan and Jet Li 5 out of 5 stars.

I enjoyed this movie very much! If you are a Jackie Chan or Jet Li fan, you should enjoy this. I was expecting a kung fu movie with subtitles instead I was surprised to find a movie that pulled me in right away. This movie reminded me of "The Karate Kid". This movie has action (lots of it), great soundtrack, some comedy (Jackie Chan) and some romance. I don't want to spoil anything but I'm going to recommend this movie to some of my movie buff friends. (I'm an over 40 female and have always wanted to learn karate. This movie just might finally make me get off my butt and do something)

Editorial Review:

Individually, they've starred in the most adrenaline-pumping martial-arts adventures ever. Together for the first time, Jet Li and Jackie Chan join forces to create the greates epic of them all- THE FORBIDDEN KINGDOM. As ancient Chinese warriors, they must train and mentor a 21st century kung-fu fanatic who's been summoned to fight a centuries-old battle and free the imprisoned Monkey King. If you're a fighting fan, the wait is over. The team is ready. The Kingdom has arrived.

Where's the martial arts? 3 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

Ok, this far from the worst martial arts movie I've seen. However the movie didn't feel complete when watching it. When two martial artists of this caliber get into a movie, you expect to see some pretty impressive fight scenes...and it never got past the jackie-chan brawl stage...but without jackie chan. The plot twists feel a little cliche, but you don't see them coming until they happen. I'd really only recommend this movie if you are a diehard jet li/Jason Statham fan, and can get the movie used for a few bucks.

War? More Like A Minor Squabble 2 out of 5 stars.
0 of 1 people found this review helpful.

It's official: I used to think that "Cradle 2 the Grave" was the worst western movie that Jet Li had ever done, but as of today, I know that this is not the case. Rarely has such a unique and promising premise been squandered as badly as director Philip Atwell did when he had Jet Li and Jason Statham in the same movie and did next to nothing with them; what could have been an action lover's wet dream was turned into a toothless talkfest with minimal action and endless quick-cut editing that's to tick off even the most devote follower of Michael Bay.

The plot starts off fairly straight-forward - FBI agent Jack Crawford (Statham, "The Transporter" trilogy) seeks revenge on a mysterious assassin known as Rogue (Li, "Hero") amidst an Asian mafia rivalry-turned-war run by the Triad leader Chang (John Lone, "The Last Emperor") and Yakuza boss Shiro (Ryo Ishibashi, "The Grudge") - but eventually becomes quite convoluted, since every other scene becomes an instance of betrayal and leaves you really wondering who is on whose side and why. To the writers' credit, there is an unexpected twist at the end concerning Rogue's identity that is surprisingly good and very nearly enough to make up for the rest of the plot's wannabe-smart tomfoolery...but not quite. Still, if you're going to remember anything about the movie, that'll be it.

Action? - what action? With the legendary Corey Yuen acting as fight choreographer, I was expecting his usual explosion of wireworked excitement, but I now think that he spent most of his time on the set napping: amidst some lackluster shootouts that any fool could've shot, there are only a handful of kung fu scenes that are worth waking up for. The better of these include Li in a short but cool hand-to-hand fight with a Yakuza henchmen (I think it's Don Lew) and a swordfight against Ishibashi that's pretty good even though it's entirely grounded. Statham has one short, mandatory beat-`em-up against a group of mob thugs before he fights Li in the last five minutes of the movie. Without exaggeration, their fight is less than a minute long and features next to no martial arts - it's just the two of them pushing eachother against walls and through windows. I could go on for hours about the injustice of finally getting two top-tier action heroes into the same fight and seeing them do only this, but since it won't do any good, let me leave it at this: Li didn't become a national wushu champion so he could get into shoving matches with other martial artists.

The acting is decent, as action flicks go, but nobody from Li to Statham and Lone to Ishibashi shines at all. Luis Guzman ("Boogie Nights"), Sung Kang ("Fast & Furious"), Nadine Velazquez ("My Name is Earl"), and Matthew St. Patrick ("Six Feet Under") have forgettable supporting parts, and even though Devon Aoki rocked "Sin City" by pretending to know how to fight, she gets in on none of the action.
At the end of the 103 minutes of "War", you'll have seen about half-a-dozen fights of which five do not top ninety seconds in duration, about three or four meh-level car chases, and a lot of shouting from Mr. Statham, but nothing even reminiscent of the large-scale conflict the title refers to. I'm very tempted to give this movie a one-star rating simply because it botched one of action cinema's dream match-ups so very badly, but in light of a handful of good parts, I can't really go through with it. Two stars is generous for a movie I never want to see again in my life, so... Unless you're expecting something disappointing to begin with and are okay with that, don't bother with this one.

Bruce Lee would be proud 5 out of 5 stars.
1 of 2 people found this review helpful.

While this IS a re-make, and Jet-Li is not Bruce Lee, it is still an amazing film. Even though the movie has been around since the early 90s, I only just saw it in its entirety recently. I'm ashamed I missed out on this for so many years! Much has already been said here concerning the plot, action, and pretty much everything else. Without being redundant, I agree with these great reviews. I think that Jet would have made Bruce Lee proud.

Fist of Legend is an awsome movie! 4 out of 5 stars.

Fist of Legend (1994) is awsome! This is Jet Li's Best Martial Arts movie! It is a remake of Buce Lee's Fist of Fury film. I recommend it because the fight scenes are worth watching. If you don't understand Madarine or Cantonese then you can swith the voices and subtitles to English. I recommed it for all Martial arts fans. It is a great Jet Li movie! A

A Must Have Among Others: Especially for Martial Artist 4 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

Although this movie has points of outright goofiness and cheesy comedy the martial arts technique is certainly sound. Other must haves are (in this order)

1. The Protector (THE MOST technically sound martial arts film I've ever seen)
2. Fist of Legend (THE 2nd MOST technically sound martial arts film I've ever seen)
3. Hero (Completely Fantastic Movie!!)
4. Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon (Brilliant Story Line)
5. Flying Daggers (Good Love Story)
6. Iron Monkey (Great Forms)
7. Tai Chi Master aka Twin Warriors (Nice Technique but dumbly bad comedy)
7. Zatoichi (A Classic)

Editorial Review:

Superstar Jet Li shows off his legendary speed, power, and agility at the peak of his martial arts prowess in this sweeping action epic. In an age of swordsmen and rebellion, two best friends and fellow martial arts students are expelled from the storied temple of Shaolin, only to meet again on the battlefield one a power-hungry general, the other a freedom-fighting rebel, both mortal enemies. Featuring Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon s Michelle Yeoh and directed by the celebrated Yuen Woo-Ping (action choreographer of The Matrix films), Tai Chi Master is a quintessential martial arts classic.

Not seen as yet but will do so within the next week, I believe its a good story..

both historical and spot on kung fu-wise 5 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

I watched the theatre version, wich I think is this one. first of all, I grew up in China and loved Kung fu movies, thus I had my fair share of Chinese and American versions of "kung fu".

This movie tells a true historic story, it is slightly fleshed out but I couldn't pick out any obvious flaws.

This is real kung fu. Jet Li is a skilled martial artist turned actor. This films contain physical combat, no flying around on a wire. This is real kung fu, at least 98% of it.

I don't write reviews for movies, but I have to for this one.

strongly recommend it! This movie tells a meaningful story AND shows fantastic REAL kung fu. What else could you ask for?

BORING!!! 1 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

I really enjoyed the first 3 Lethal Weapon movies, but this one is a snoozer. Chris Rock is funny as a comedian, but as an actor he's in need of some serious help. The whole movie was so overblown that it's just ridiculous!

Don't waste your money. If you really must see it borrow it. It's not even worth the time to watch really, much less the cost to rent. Even Mel Gibson can't save this one from the trash heap.

out of all four movies in the series, this is probably the loudest and
most chaotic, but that doesn't mean it was a bad movie.i think the
storyline was a bit thin and not really all that original, but just like
in part three, the action, and the chemistry of the stars makes up for
that.and this movie also has more laughs than the previous
installments, many courtesy of both Joe Pesci and Chris Rock.Rene Russo
is back, along with Mel and Danny.Jet Li joins the proceedings in this
one,and brings some spectacular fight scenes courtesy of his martial
arts skill.i don't know if this is the best of the series, but i thought
it was as good as number three, which i really liked.for me,Lethal

A decent flick, as I recall... It's been a while. 4 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

I seem to recall this was a pretty good sci-fi / martial arts type movie. Though I also recall it was a little weird in parts.

I generally enjoy Jet Li's work, even if he does have a few weird or "dark" roles. In this one, he plays both the good guy and the bad guy(s).

I seem to recall it's more or less sci-fi fluff. Good for killing a lazy weekend afternoon. But probably nothing that would ever go up for an Oscar.

Good; but miss-cast... 3 out of 5 stars.

This is one Jet Li movie I believe could've been better if Li was the villian and Russell Wong was the lead!
Try as they will, Jet and Aaliyah did not have the chemistry to pull off a believable romance, not too mention, they didn't even look good together. Handsome Russell Wong, on the otherhand, could've easily pulled off a realistic romance with the beautiful Aaliyah.(RIP)
