Buy this for Jackie's sake 3 out of 5 stars.

A nice collection of movies. A few of the old-world pony tailed martial arts movies. You can see a yound Jackie Chan maturing throught these movies.

About the DVD's I should say that the Pan & Scan is shabbily done with too much zoom, so that it makes us miss the action most of the time. You feel as if the person on screen is fighting with himself. The audio is also a bit weak. However I think it is due to the quality of the originals itself rather than the DVD mastering.

As is common knowledge, Fearless Hyena is a classic. Great action, nice storyline and good tempo. The movie video is better too as it is a recent movie than the others, which have some faded screens, especially Spiritual kung fu.

I couldnt comment on FH II however as I bought a used colleciton and this movies was not there. Reading from the other reveiws I gather that Iam not missing much.

Spiritual kungfu is a funny movie if you can accept ghosts acted out by guys dressed in white with red/blue/purple wigs !!!

Half a loaf of Kung fu is a poor effort to be funny but some of the action is good.

To kill with intrigue has some great action and amazing talent from most of the actors/actresses in the movie. But Jackie looks like someone else with an ugly ponytail wig and different facial make-up.

New fist of fury is to be considered a extra or bonus thrown if you buy the five pack. The movie doesnt merit anything else other than being a Jackie chan movie, and is nice to own one of his early days movies.

Editorial Review:

A 1976 novelty item for Jackie Chan completists only; he plays one of his rare costume roles, and his only bad guy. The star is Jimmy Wang Yu (One Armed Swordsman) as Hero Mei, a freelance warrior whose top-secret weapons are explosive projectiles known as killer meteors. Mei is hired by the so-called "Immortal Meteor," Hua Wa-bin (Chan), to eliminate his pesky wife, who (Hua claims) is plotting to kill him. There are some clever, gimmicky fight sequences and some amusingly far-fetched weaponry. A couple of glamorous sword-fighting women are also involved, as is a potion called the Pulverizing Drug, which melts people into puddles, like vampires exposed to sunlight. But there's so much plot to get through (adapted from a lengthy serial novel by Gu Long), and so many long-winded explanations to plow through that none of the characters have much free time for fighting. The movie plays both as hard-boiled (with everybody betraying everybody else) and as a medieval Chinese conspiracy yarn: kung fu Robert Ludlum. --David Chute

Two Guys to Cheer For! 5 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

In a third cinematic clash, after "Twinkle, Twinkle Lucky Stars"
and "City Hunter," Jackie Chan and Richard Norton turn up the heat for "Mr. Nice Guy," an unusually edgy Chan vehicle that does
not abandon the star's signature for comedic movie action. As in
their previous efforts, Norton plays the nemesis, a Melbourne drug lord (Giancarlo) who must retrieve an incriminating videotape from a naive television chef (Jackie). Norton's performance is a tour-de-force triumph, making the eccentric
Giancarlo one of the most memorable villains from all of Chan's
films. Chan's elusive scramble through the streets of Melbourne,
colorfully utilized by director Samo Hung, reminds the audience
of his ability to mesmerize with stunts staged in familiar locations: a construction site, a mall interior, an abandoned
building. Who needs computerized effects when you've got Jackie
Chan and a ready prop? Giancarlo's lurking henchmen provide the
movie's Keystone Cops, and Hung contributes a funny stunt off the
unlikely seat of a bicycle. "Nice Guy" is flawless fun, prompting
a wish for another Chan-Norton pairing that will put them on the
same side of the law. These two guys are action stars to applaud
for consistently excellent film entertainment!

Editorial Review:

This early film of Jackie Chan's was meant to shepherd him into the '70s kung fu genre pantheon made internationally popular by Bruce Lee. Indirectly it did, but probably more out of positioning than performance. Chan was to assume Lee's position as kung fu superstar, made evident by his role in New Fist of Fury (1976), the somewhat clunky chop-socky sequel to The Chinese Connection (on which Chan had worked as a stunt man). Directed by Wei Lo, New Fist of Fury picks up with two siblings fleeing a Japanese-occupied Shanghai for Taiwan, where their grandfather runs a Kung Fu school. However, a Japanese martial arts teacher has plans to run all the schools under his own name, eventually killing the grandfather. Chan plays a young thief who, at first, wants nothing to do with fighting but then finds his calling as the new leader of rebels against the Japanese occupation. Chan of course is no Bruce Lee (although during one dramatic sequence, a still of Lee is cut into the frame to "remind" viewers of the filmmakers' intentions) but New Fist of Fury marks Chan's first entry as a leading actor in Hong Kong action films. --Shannon Gee

bruce lee documentary 3 out of 5 stars.
10 of 12 people found this review helpful.

this is a short (about 45 min) documentary of on the films of bruce lee. the production value is low and the content is merely ok. it's valuable only to the fan of bruce lee (it does give a good list of all his movies, not as many as you think). i bought it in a two pack with another Lee documentary, The Intercepting Fist, a documentary on the style of martial arts he created, and is a truly good documentary. If you can find the 2-pack, go for it, otherwise, i'd probably pass on this one.

Intelligent Look at Lee's Impact 5 out of 5 stars.
5 of 6 people found this review helpful.

"Path" provides a very intelligent examination of how Bruce Lee
and the martial arts, in general, crossed cultural and racial
barriers for positive impact. Thoughtfully narrated by the
actor's daughter Shannon Lee, the documentary is highlighted by
interviews of current luminaries in movies and martial arts such
as Richard Norton and Jackie Chan. Commentaries on Lee are
also provided by his "Enter the Dragon" co-star John Saxon, James
Coburn and George Lazenby, a former James Bond. The historical
origins of the martial arts, with vintage footage from Asian locations, are examined to lay the foundation for the bases of
Lee's global success. Students and film fans alike will enjoy
this remarkable hour that is, in equal parts, an enjoyable history lesson and a retrospective on the importance of Bruce Lee
to film and to international popular culture.

How many lies in the title? 2 out of 5 stars.
3 of 3 people found this review helpful.

Jackie Chan's Invinvible Crime Force....

One, Jackie Chan has a small and uncreditted bit in the film.

Two, the "crime Force" isn't -- they're escaped POW's in a WWII story out to destroy a weapons plant...

It's really Brigitte Lin and Sally Yeh's picture, and it's horribly dubbed, the transfer isn't any good, and the "score" is ripped from half a dozen other pictures -- I liked the wordless choir lift from Once Upon a Time In The West, myself....

Bad enough that it's kind of entertaining.

Originally titled "GOlden Queen's Amazons"

Invincible Fighter is a video compilation of great moments from some of his early films.. fine, except that it's plainly been mastered badly from a VHS original, the image is panned and scanned and the burned in subtitles run off the edges fo the frame. This package would be overpriced at a dollar.

Synopsis 5 out of 5 stars.
1 of 6 people found this review helpful.

THE INVINCIBLE FIGHTER: Jackie Chan was born Chan Yuen Long in 1954. At the age of 6, he was sent to train at the Chinese Opera School, where he stayed for over ten years. While still in his teens, Jackie got into the film business as a stuntman, and moved up the ladder until he became Asia's biggest superstar. For the first time, Jackie's story can be told, in a film that has been held exclusively in Asia until now! His greatest fights and action scenes reveal the physical genius that is Jackie Chan, as well as training sequences that mirror his real life ordeals at opera school. He's fast, he's furious, he's funny, he's Jackie Chan!
CRIME FORCE: Brigitte Lin (Police Story) stars as Black Fox, a POW who escapes with six other female prisoners during WWII for the purpose of destroying an evil warlord's chemical weapons plant. Each of the seven amazons brings her own specialized brand of mayhem into the arena all of which are unleashed when they descend on the factory, where they are greeted by a deadly array of traps and fighters.
