Every so often a genius of kinesthetic flow arrives in the world; Enter the Dragon is an opportunity to witness first hand the phenominal ability of Li Jun Fan (Bruce Lee) at the very top of his craft. I feel safe in saying that there is no other martial artist put on film that has such dynamic presence and amazing focus as Lee; and Enter the Dragon captures this intensity like no other film.

This film is the first in many ways. Not only the first Chinese/American team up of a martial arts film, it is the very first true martial arts picture ever to be filmed in English. Martial arts star Sammo Hung is highlighted in the first five minutes of the film (first time I believe) and there is even a bit part for an extremely young Jackie Chan (watch closely) as the recipient of Lee's "fists of fury". Starring Bruce Lee, John Saxon and new-comer Jim Kelly, Lee plays a Shaolin monk that is convinced by British Authorities (at the time Governing Hong Kong) to infiltrate an island via a martial arts tournament run by a rogue Shaolin monk named Han (Played by Shih Kien). The government wants Lee to infiltrate the tournament and contact them with information of Han's activities.

The film is laced with Lee's Zen philosophy of life. He uses martial arts as a metaphor for all of life and a vehicle in which to understand all of life's big questions. This film is Lee's final masterpiece as the Little Dragon died 6 days before the US release of Enter the Dragon. This film is a testament to an amazing human being that managed to bridge the gap between East and West. A must see for anyone interested in Martial Arts or Eastern thought.

The voices are dubed in and it is in a deep voice but there a some great fight seens but if you want to see a really good Bruce Lee movie get Enter the Dragon. The Chinese Connection is still a good movie

Bruce shines in this, his best the lot 5 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

I love this movie and still think its Lee at his best. Between the scene of him as a very awkward phone repairman, and the scene where he takes on a horde of bad guys with Nunchucks, this is his most complete performance on screen to me and showed his talent at its best. This transfer is of a much better quality than most of the releases out there of this movie. If you ever wanted to see just how good and talented Bruce was, just watch this one and find out.
The story is standard for these movies but Lee bumps the action and the acting up to give this one it's true classic reputation.

The Early Bruce Lee... 4 out of 5 stars.

1972's "The Chinese Connection" features a young Bruce Lee as the leading student at a King Fu Academy in 1908 Shanghai. The storyline is a simple tale of revenge, but in the context of a Shanghai dominated by Japanese and other outsiders, in which the natives are treated as second-class citizens, it resonated deeply with its original Chinese audience.

In the movie, Chen, played by Bruce Lee, returns to his academy to find that his beloved master, a famous martial artist, is dead. Chen is stricken with grief, but learns from his fellow students that his master's death may not have been an accident. Chen patiently but violently works his way back through the members of a rival Japanese school, looking for those responsible for the master's death. Highlights include a many-on-one fight at the school, which Chen wins decisively, and a confrontation with a Russian martial artist brought in to deal with Chen. Chen's willingness to stand up for his fellow Chinese forces the hand of the local authorities (including a police chief played by director Lo Wei), who are beholden to the Japanese. Cornered at the end, the gallant Chen will be left with only one option.

The original Chinese is dubbed over in English, unfortunately resulting in dialogue that sounds like it was lifted from a high school drama. Fortunately, the non-verbal qualities of the acting, including a touching performance by Nora Miao as Chen's love interest and some nicely choreographed fight sequences, carry the movie. "Chinese Connection" is a Raymond Chow production, and a better than average representative of the early martial arts genre.

This movie is highly recommended to fans of Bruce Lee and of the early martial arts movies.

A Great Compilation of Bruce Lee's Rarely Seen Footage ! 5 out of 5 stars.
41 of 45 people found this review helpful.

A nice mix of home movie footage, movie clips, audio commentary by Bruce and Brandon Lee and interview footage from Dan Inosanto are all brought together in a wonderfully edited piece that is truly motivated to shed light on Jeet Kune Do. Just watching and listening to the footage of Bruce and James Coburn training (which incidentally is much longer and less cut than other documentaries showing only portions of this footage) is a great enlightenment into the way that Bruce Lee taught his art. One of the few, if not the only, documentaries on Bruce Lee that leaves you in awe of what he really was about. I really should not call it a documentary because it takes the available footage and makes it into a teaching/training DVD for JKD. Also Dan Inosanto lends a lot of personal insight in a pleasingly lengthy interview at the end.

The instruction, though not vast and complex, reflects the foundation of what Bruce was working with. Much of what is valuable pertains to a person's initiative more so than to obtaining techniques. Many tend to overlook the value of simple things and focus on acquiring an arsenal of techniques to tap into. Bruce was so very focused on the simplicity and directness of being and acting within the living moment, that he encapsulated what most others tend to disregard in their search for complexity. Many people approach an art looking for something new to learn and understand as opposed to trying to do what one already knows and understands very well. Acquiring new techniques is one thing. Applying yourself to make your actions useful and effective is another. The impact of simple ideas and common knowledge may be of little use to one person, and hold great depth for another. Bruce could see the value and become dynamically involved in the simplicity that others would fail to give credence to.

It should be noted that the techniques and drills that Bruce used to practice were meant to act as a foundation for providing a structure to grow from. Not as an end all group of movements to embrace.

The visual quality of the footage is by no means great when, after all, you are watching his home movies and listening to old audio recordings. However, the content is unprecedented when it comes to explaining Jeet Kune Do and getting a real sense of Bruce Lee the man. There is indeed enough here to provide a foundation that you can take and run with if you want to pursue training yourself the way Bruce did.

Don't miss this one!

Editorial Review:

In this fascinating, heartfelt documentary narrated by Bruce Lee himself and with additional commentary by son Brandon Lee and student Dan Inosanto, the martial arts of Jeet Kune Do is presented in its purest, most direct form. See and hear Lee personally explains and demonstrates his punching and kicking techniques and combat philosophies. Bruce Lee's research notes, drawings, home movies, private recordings and audio recordings are also featured in this one of a kind film.

So I already reviewed this, but now have to do it again since I edited it, AAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH 3 out of 5 stars.
15 of 20 people found this review helpful.

I had to edtit this because I wanted to change my review on ninja death after seeing parts 1 and 2. So here I go again, I still have not watched ALL of these, but then again, I never will watch some of them, so I will give it my my best.

Return of the Kungfu Dragon-2/5 stars at best, almost worth watching, I made it all the way through this one cause there were a lot of fights, but NOTHING sttod out to me.

Nija Empire-not going to watch this but if you are a mike egan fan, then you should certainly check this out.

NINJA DEATH 1- easily one of the most ambitious projects ever concieved by a kungfu director. The back of this box actually does a decent job of describinbg this, meaning they didn't lie and say that ti lung and david chiang. So this is easily the best of the 3- part series but you do need to get all 3. The other ones do a nice job of recapping, and if they woulod have said "Last time on Ninja Death", then that would have given a 5/5 for every movie. This movie starts out with a mullet wearing alexander lo rei who is as ripped as ever in thisd. he plays a brothel bouncer, so you get plenty of overly long funny sex scenes in this. But that is not why we are watching this. Ninja'a are coming out again and Alezander Lo Rei has to train with his master to learn a really good fighting style. I could bog you down with the story, but it's better just to try and figure it out for yourself cause it is pretty cool. So Lu Feng is the leader of the ninjas and he is trying to finish what he started like 20 years ago. And don't be fooled by this guy's 4 cent tin foil gold suit thingy because like I said, this guy is Lu Feng. And Feng's scenes are the only one they don't speed up(in part 1 at least), so maybe it is a tribute to him being the centipede. There is also this guy who wears a metal mask and is basically unstoppable. He is definitely my favorite character. Sop like I said you need to get all the parts of this, you can get the 50-pack that has all 20 of these movies and it also has parts 2 and 3. Or you can do what I did and buy the parts 2 and 3 for 99 cents off a ebay, not too bad of a buy.

Deadly Duo- bolo , chiang and ti fo not star in this and the real name is 2 GREAT CAVALIERS. It has beardy, lo lieh, angela mao, john liu, and the second appearence I have ever seen in a movie from the baddie from Jet li's last hero in china. I know what you are saying, "this has to be great", well it actually really sucks and ohter than the final fight is right on par with return of the kungfu dragon. The problem with this movie is that they don't even attempt to make the punches and kicks look like they are actually connecting. So not even worth a watch, but check it out for yourself and if you think it's good than post your opinion, I wold be glad to read it.

Ninja the protector- this movie said it had phillip ko in it in the CREDITS it said that. Mother @*$&#%^ piece of @#($, why do I keep watching these godfrey ho movies, I keep thinking that I am going to see the one good godfey ho film, but it will never happen. So this movie is a signateure splice that is better I guess than most of his ninja films.

HAnds of death-about as good as rage of the master=(wang yu"s saddest effort ever)

Weapons of death-I'm not going to watch it but if some of you're favorite kungfu stars are Eric Lee, Bob Ramos, Ralph Castellanos, then this is your bag baby!

Ninja Champion-HA ha ha ha ha ha

Four robbers- really bad chinese shoot-em-up, credits say that it has Ku Feng in it.

Shaolin Temple- sorry, no fu sheng, or maybe it does have him, but this is easily one of he worst shaolin movies ever, right up there with shaolin posse.

Image of bruce lee- Actually not that bad, I think it has Bruce Li in it. A ton of the most pointless fights ever(until the end at least). BUT THIS MOVIE HAS BOLO IN IT AND I DIDN'T SEE HIM FIGHT, SWEAR WORDS ARE RACING THROUGH MIND RIGHT NOW. I was pretty drunk when I saw this and I might have missed it, btu it would have had to be like a 30 second fight. So pai ying shows up in the final fight and it is pretty good. Easily one of the best bruce lee clone movies, a top tenner.

The snake, the tiger, the crane- I didn't see carter wong in this but it does have lo lieh as a wandering swordsman. Overall this is right along the lines of 2 great cavaliers(deadly duo) in crappiness.

Shaolin deadly kicks- I was actually expecting a lot out of this movie, maybe that's why I hated it. But if you are a dorian tan fan, you will probably like this, I just never liked that guy, he was too slow or something, I just can't put my finger on it.

Chase step by step- a real gem. I would rate this 3rd behind ninja death and shadow ninja as best movies in this "collection" and image of bruce would be a very distant 4th.
So this movie is about 2 circus kids who have to deliver gold a town who is poor and they have all sorts of troubles along the way. It has a really bad picture, but then again I have sat through and enjoyed muvh worse than this. The movie itself I would give around a 3.5/5, but still VERY good. This movie I have to say is pretty unique to what we kungfu buffs are used to, so really worth it if you can get this collection for 7.99 brand new at best buy like I did. And I would pay up to 30 dollars for this(if I already had Ninja death parts 2 and 3, which is actually pretty unlikely.

Bruce Lee:the invincible-I watched this and then image of bruce back to back. And this is the reason I got so drunk, this was so bad, I kept trying to make it better, but it only got worse the more drunk I got. So the movie stars the star of chines hercules and everyone really sucks at kung fu in this. REALLY SUCKS.

The big fight-I mix this up with hands of death, but I didn't finish either of them, because they both sucked.

The street fighter- you all know this sonny chiba movie, I don't like it, but it's watchable anf the picture is watchable too.

Death Machines- Ron Marchini, Michael Chong, Joshua Johnson, the greatest kungfu trio ever. They even rivaled the venoms back in the day. The reason Godfrey Ho is so popular. Easily one of the best movies ever. Also stars Jerry Karney, Tony "the disater" Baster. A true kung fu epic, ho's best work. 5/5 stars.

Infernal Street- only one I haven;t popped in the dvd player out of these.

Shadow Ninja-THE REASON YOU BUY COLLECTIONS LIKE THESE.
This is a true gem, I'll give you a spoiler alert right away because I tend to get carried away when I am talking about my favorite kung fu movies ever. The movie stars Roy Chiou(I think), a scrawny but tough little kid, and SHEN YI-KWAN. I know I butchered his name, but now 99.9% sure that this is the Jet Li's opponent in Tsui Hark's masterpiece, Once upon a time in china. Now if you have been looking for EYE-POPPING Martial Arts action, thenthis will definitely tickle that kungfu spot inside you that constantly needs more and more love the more and better stuff that you see.
So the story starts out with a young scrawny kid who wants to be a police officer. Now this kid has that classic peking opera style that I love and he looks absolutely FLAWLESS in his moves. So he becomes a cop and the partener of Roy Chiou(I think) and Roy doesn't like him at first, but then he gets his ass saved by him and they become good friends. Now I don't want to give away any more of this movie, except a little, but YOU NEED TO SEE THIS MOVIE, AND TO SEE THIS YOU MUST GO BY ANY MEAANS NECESSARY. There is a guy called the white killer in this movie, and I think Michael Mann stole some music from the white kilelr theme for the shootout in heat. Anyway they have this one very stylish shot where the white kilelr kills someone and laeves red blood covering the camera lense, they also do a VERY nice shot of showing an all white body get soaked in red, and a VERY VERY nice revealing scene of the white killer.
>
The final fight scene for this includes 4 people, 3 of which can fight. And when I say that they can fight, I mean they go at it HARD. These 3 can match up with ANYBODY in terms of on-screen fighting. The end battle is so spectacular that I wish that a word like breathless could describe this properly, but it doesn't. So I will just tell you that I have well over 200 kung fu movies and this rights right near the top of my all-time favorite. i literally watched this like 25 times in like 10 days.
I will never tire of this movie.

So Hell yah you should buy this collection, SHADOW NINJA IS TAKEN FROM A PRETTY GOOD PRINT, and personally , I would pay up to 20 bucks for this movie alone, even if it was a crappy print unlike the one this collection gives you. An ALL TIME CLASSIC.

And if anyone can find out the real name of this, I WILL BE VERY INTERESTED IN HEARING IT. When I looked this up on IMDB, it I clicked on the stars of it and all the same actores are in a movie called the KILLER WEARS WHITE, so if anybody has seen this sequel or prequel, PLEASE POST IT HERE AND LET ME KNOW.

I've been reading the reviews... and noticing how everyone who gave it 'top marks' saying it was 'hylarious', 'the bets movie ever', and so on and so forth, have never seen the original anime, or even better, read the manga.
If they had I'm sure none of those people would give it more than it's due - 1 star (for J.C. fans, maybe 2).
This movie is a poor excuse for an adaptation. And a disgrace for the original City Hunter. Jackie Chan as Saeba Ryo?! Puh-lease!
The attempts at manga/anime humor fall on barren ground and turn the movie into an even more of a farce as it already is.
I wouldn't recomend this movie not even to my worst enemy and I agree with the reviewer who said 'when you die and go to Hell, Satan makes you watch this movie'. I can't imagine a torture greater than that. I'd take boiling oil any time!

Hot on her heels, Ryu tracks her down on board a cruise ship, and much to the annoyance of his jealous female sidekick Kaori (Joey Wong) the womanizing Ryu seems more interested in catching Shizuko's attention than returning her safely to her father. To save the day Jackie Chan's unique action style reigns supreme in a series of brilliantly conceived fight sequences as Ryu swings into action to dispatch the bad guys and rescue the goergeous Shizuko!

Editorial Review:

Bruce Lee died after shooting only a few scenes of his ambitious Game of Death, but that didn't stop greedy producers from finishing and releasing "Lee's last film," even if he's doubled for most of it. Lee planned an ambitious expression of his fighting philosophy, and his story culminates in the rigorous challenge of the "Game of Death," in which combatants take on successively greater and greater masters as they fight their way to the top of a tower. Only a few fight scenes were completed, and the released film is about a martial arts movie star who takes on a syndicate of drug dealers. Lee faces down the towering Kareem Abdul-Jabbar in an impressive battle, one of the only surviving scenes from Lee's original shoot, while outtakes from his battle with Chuck Norris in Return of the Dragon are used along with real-life footage from Lee's funeral. The rest of the film is a mishmash of car chases and clumsily edited fights, complete with awkward inserts of Lee's face. His double remains hidden behind a pair of dark glasses or a motorcycle helmet throughout, and he abruptly changes into a yellow jumpsuit for no reason other than to match Lee's costume in the final scene. --Sean Axmaker

After Bruce Lee's untimely death in 1973, and the global success of Enter The Dragon, two films were created from existing footage of the Green Hornet television series the to capitalize on his worldwide stardom. These two movies combine seven Green Hornet episodes to create two spine tingling adventures. Starring Bruce Lee as Kato and Van Williams as The Green Hornet, the film capitalized on the existing popularity of the 1960s crime-fighting duo. Edited with Bruce Lee's star power in mind, the films have an abundance of spectacular fight scenes.
